• How much is the NPR adoption fee?

Our adoption fee is $350.  Each pug is vetted prior to adoption.  Costs to us may include vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm test and preventative care.  The adoption fee helps us cover some of these costs.

  • What is the adoption process?

We ask that you fill out an application which we will review and place you on our wait list.  We will contact you if we have any further questions and when we find a pug that might be a good match for your family.  A home visit will be scheduled so we can talk with you, check out the environment, and, if possible, we’ll have the pug with us to see how they interact with the family and other animals.  There is a two week “trial period” to make sure it is the right fit for all.

  • Can I visit and play with any pugs you have available?

Unfortunately, no.  We are a home based rescue and our pugs reside in private foster homes.

  • What happens if I cannot keep my NPR pug?

Per the contract, you must return the NPR pug to us should you no longer be able to provide the proper care for them.

  • Will my pug be spayed or neutered when I adopt him or her?

Yes! We are required to spay or neuter all pugs unless there is a medical reason documented by our veterinarian indicating why it may not be safe for the pug to be spayed or neutered.

  • If a pug needs dental work before I adopt it, will it be done before adoption?

Depending on the severity of the work that needs to be done, we most likely will not do anything that requires anesthesia while a pug is transitioning to a new home because it’s so stressful for the pug (except spay or neuter). If there is an infection in a tooth or the gums and the vet feels there is more risk in waiting, then we will go ahead but if its just minor work like a cleaning or extracting a loose tooth, our vet recommends waiting 4-6 months after the pug is settled in his or her new home prior to putting the pug under anesthesia.

  • How long will I be on the waiting list?

We never know when we will be getting pugs nor do we know anything about them so there’s no way to know how long it might take for us to find a pug suitable for your family. The application asks for specific details such as gender, age range, etc. so we take that information and consider each pug based on the specific requirements indicated on the application. The fewer requirements you have, the sooner we’ll likely have a pug for you but there are a lot of things that are considered so it’s impossible to say, with any degree of certainty, how long it might take.
